Employee parameter values are the actual values assigned to parameters for an employee as of a designated effective date. Parameter values can include such things as employee salary, base rate, or 401(k) percentage. Although parameters are declared on segment items, parameter values can be assigned on the segment item or on the employee record or on both. If a parameter value is assigned in both places, the value from the employee record takes precedence.

The parameter values for an employee are typically maintained on the employee record in the Values table on the Calculations tab. The value you are editing in the table depends on the parameter selected in the Parameters table.

Because parameter values are date-driven, you can add parameter values in advance and they won't take effect until the effective date you specify. Only the value that is currently in effect is used in check calculations.

To view parameter values for all employees, highlight the Payroll/Human Resources > Employees > Parameter Values folder and view them in the HD view.

Note

If the employee record or the segment item where the parameter is declared is flagged as obsolete, the employee parameter value is also flagged as obsolete.

Data Have read-only access to employee parameter values from anywhere in the software (e.g., field validations, filters, date expressions).
Delete Delete employee parameter values.
Edit Edit employee parameter value records.
Read Have read-only access to employee parameter value records.
Report Run reports with employee parameter value information.
Report Designs Create and edit report designs with employee parameter value information. This access enables the Report Designs button on the Output tab of report dialogs.
Shared Answers Create and edit action profiles and report profiles related to employee parameter values.
Shared Filters Create and edit shared filters on employee parameter values.
Visible View the Employees > Parameter Values folder in the Navigation pane.

The following built-in filters are available for employee parameter values:

? Current Values Prompts for a date and lists employee parameter values as of that date.
? Employee Code Prompts for an employee code and lists employee parameter values for employees with an employee code that contains the specified search string.
? Employee Name Prompts for an employee name and lists employee parameter values for employees with a name that contains the specified search string.
? Parameter Prompts for a parameter and lists employee parameter values associated with parameters that contain the specified search string.
Current Employees Lists employee parameter values for current employees.
