The Filter Usage folder tracks filter use. The Filter Usage HD view shows usage detail for all filters and users.

Filter usage, both "Personal" and "Shared", is tracked in the following areas which use filters:

  • ActivityHD Explorer
  • Dashboards
  • Saved answers
  • Bots and import macros
  • ActivWebServer (Self-Serve)
  • ActivWebAPI

An administrator can use the information provided in the HD view to determine which filters are seldom or no longer used. Such filters may be candidates for deletion from the Filters folder. When a filter or user is deleted, its related filter usage detail is also deleted. Because the number of filter usage items does not grow significantly and is bound by the number of filters and users who use the filters, deleting filter usage for existing filters and users is not a performance concern.

Common accesses available on filters

Access A user with this access can...
Data Have read-only access to filter usage from anywhere in the software.
Report Run reports with filter usage information.
Report Designs Create and edit report designs with filter usage information. This access enables the Report Designs button on the Output tab of report dialogs.
Shared Answers Create and edit action profiles and report profiles related to filter usage.
Shared Filters Create and edit shared filters on filter usage.
Visible View the Filter Usage folder in the Navigation pane.
